Rauw Alejandro

Despacito is a 2017 song made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most streamed track in the world within the space of six months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop that attracted attention to Latin Music, but also reggaeton. In 2015 there were two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity, however 19 mostly Spanish songs made it into the top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017 and soon after the most well-known artists began collaborating together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) and Madonna was a part of Medellin along with Maluma (2019). As early as 2020, some reggaeton musicians felt dissatisfied with the direction the genre was shifting towards the popular. Rauw Alajandro is a member of a brand new generation of musicians who are determined to shift the direction of. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and different styles was an accepted practice.
