Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the challenges of her life by using her vivid and broad imagination. Prior to learning how to write and read, Dolly Parton was creating her own songs. Once she had her first guitar at the age 8, she started to play on radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the same year, she recorded her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While she was studying, she already established herself within the local arena. But her dream was to be able to make music on a larger scale. The day after she graduated in 1964, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for a new girl singer for his television show that was syndicated. Parton began her career in 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry. The show was cancelled by Wagoner, however, in 1974 due to her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at No. In 1974, the song by Parton I Will Always Love You climbed to No.
